The LabelFlow Community

Why you (yes YOU) should join the LabelFlow community!

The LabelFlow community

It’s been a few weeks since we launched LabelFlow, which, in case you hadn’t noticed by now, is the open platform for image labeling.

It’s been great seeing all of your feedback so far, and we’ve loved the interactions with our early adopters, but we want more! So much so, that we’ve even dedicated this whole article to you, and all of the different ways you can interact with the LabelFlow community.

Before we start... We’ve already detailed why we believe in making our code open and source-available in a recent blog post. There are a number of really interesting factors that come into play and we urge you to check them out. Seriously, read our blog!

It’s all about you.

No, really. It is! There aren’t too many ways of saying this without sounding slightly condescending, but it’s worth saying nonetheless: nobody knows what you want more than, well… you. Our code is open and source-available so that you, the users, can help us to focus on what’s important. We want you to tell us what you need and what you’d like us to work on. You can even develop it yourself… if you’re into that kind of thing.

What’s next? You decide!

Democracy is a wonderful thing. We’re big fans here at LabelFlow! As an ode to this wonderful Greek invention, we’re letting our users contribute directly to our product roadmap. Visit our Canny page to check out what features we’re working on. The page provides a really simple dashboard of what features we’ve developed and what’s to come! Feel free to upvote what tickles your fancy so that we get to that first.

Don’t see what you’re looking for? Give us that sweet sweet feedback! Just add your feature to the list, and the community will vote on it. Judging by how important the feature is to our users, and how aligned it is with our product roadmap, the LabelFlow team will be in touch to discuss the options with you.

Can’t wait for us to get round to it? Keep reading 👀

Fork our repository

That’s right. We encourage users to play with our code and to make it their own. For the more “hands-on” users out there, simply fork our repository on GitHub and get to it!

For those of you who are new to this, forking (yes forking) is essentially creating a copy of the original repo, but with a backlink to the original. Once you’ve forked (yes forked) the LabelFlow repository, all you have to do is to create a local clone and you can mess with it all you want!

All you have to do is to start developing the features you need and create a pull request on GitHub to submit it if you feel like sharing your work with the community. We welcome all contributions, big or small.

You spotted a spelling mistake in a readme? Create that PR.

You coded a smart tool to accelerate the labeling process? Nice! The community thanks you. Hit that PR button.

You copied our code to launch a competing service? Yeah, that’s gonna be a no from me dawg. Not cool. Don’t do that! The code is available to anyone but to competing services. More about this in this article.

Our goal at LabelFlow is to set the standard as an open image labeling tool. Our users can easily customize it to seamlessly integrate their tools around their data stack!

Let’s have a chat!

In addition to all of the aforementioned good stuff, come hang out with us on the LabelFlow Discord server, it’s a safe space, we promise!

This is where we’ll post regular updates on the product and the team, and generally chat with our users to find out how you’re all getting on. We’ve opened a specific channel for feature requests, so feel free to tell us about your needs, as well as on Canny of course!

There’s also a dedicated support channel on the Discord where the LabelFlow team and other members of the community can help out.

Yes, we only have two external users as I’m writing this post, but that’s exactly but Etienne, Nacho, and Hugo are ready for you!

Last but not least, we’re a sociable bunch. We really do enjoy chatting with you guys, so feel free to hit us up on all of the socials. If you’re more into physical interactions (behave), you’re welcome to drop by our Nantes 🇫🇷 or Lisbon 🇵🇹 offices for a coffee.

Cheers. ✌️
